As an Associate Member of the Schmidt Science Fellows Academic Council, Dr. Liliane Chamas shares her expertise in healthtech investing and science policy with our current Fellows and Senior Fellows. She also works with the Schmidt Science Fellows to moderate Global Meeting sessions and deliver bespoke training for Fellows in her areas of expertise.
Liliane is a healthtech investment principal at Oxford Sciences Innovation, a £600m venture capital firm focused on developing and scaling spinouts based on research from the Mathematical, Physical, Life Sciences and Medical Divisions at the University of Oxford.
Liliane completed her DPhil in Human Genetics at the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism, attending the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. She has previously taught biochemistry to Oxford medical undergraduates, innovation in global health for MBA students at the Saïd Business School, and led the delivery of introduction to public policy for Schmidt Science Fellows at the Blavatnik School of Government during former Global Meetings.
Previously, Liliane served as Deputy Head of the UK Foreign Commonwealth Office/NHS joint unit, building partnerships for medical workforce, digital health, and life sciences between the United Kingdom, Latin America, South Africa and South East Asia. She has also been a Policy Fellow at the Institute for Global Health Innovation at Imperial College London and worked at the World Health Organization, focusing on indigenous and refugee health initiatives in Brazil, Paraguay and the Middle East.
Liliane speaks five languages and has delivered health projects in more than 12 countries.
