Hormonal disorders are increasingly common, yet many people, especially women, remain undiagnosed. A major challenge is that hormones fluctuate constantly, and we lack tools to continuously monitor them.
As a Schmidt Science Fellow, Elena will address this by developing a new sensor to detect hormones in real time and testing its performance using organoids that model the human body’s hormone production system.
Through this work, Elena aims to lay the foundation for a wearable device that could continuously monitor hormone levels to improve diagnosis and care for endocrine disorders, advancing women’s health and enabling new discoveries in hormone biology.
