Leatherback sea turtles have survived for over 100 million years, yet today they are endangered worldwide. One major threat is invasive fungal infections that attack their eggs and significantly reduce hatchling survival.
As a Schmidt Science Fellow, Hannah aims to combat these infections by identifying safe, natural antifungal treatments. After testing promising therapies in controlled laboratory studies, she will apply effective solutions to turtle nests on Florida beaches.
Hannah’s goal is to increase the number of healthy hatchlings, reduce extinction risk, and strengthen conservation strategies that protect sea turtles globally.
Hannah will pivot from Analytical Chemistry to Marine Biology
