Magnetic microrobots offer potential for conducting minimally invasive procedures and targeted drug delivery.
Guided by external magnetic fields, these microrobots can be navigated with high precision. However, current methods struggle to control their behavior in complex environments such as the body.
As a 2025 Schmidt Science Fellow, Lucia aims to develop microrobotic systems by leveraging innately magnetic microbes known as magnetotactic bacteria. Lucia’s approach will enhance the control and stimuli-responsive behavior of these microrobots for more precise and effective biomedical procedures.
Lucia will pivot from Biomaterials to Robotics
