As a 2025 Schmidt Science Fellow, Sichen plans to advance immunology by establishing novel experimental technologies and conceptual frameworks that pave the way for next-generation treatments.
Sichen’s research aims to explore the role of the immune system in maintaining healthy internal tissue in addition to its role in defending against external pathogens.
With a combination of biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering approaches, Sichen will establish new technologies and provide the proof-of-concept for a novel tissue-level regulatory circuit to understand how internal variables are monitored and maintained. This work could provide valuable insights into how immune system dysfunction contributes to chronic diseases like fibrosis, cancer, and long COVID, paving the way for new therapeutic targets.
Sichen will pivot from Developmental Biology to Immunology
