Solomon completed his PhD in Chemical Engineering, where he introduced a new platform for understanding lithium growth in batteries. Using the fundamental insights gained from this platform, he designed high-performing lithium metal batteries.

As a Schmidt Science Fellow, Solomon will work with Professors Kristin Persson and Gerbrand Ceder at the University of California, Berkeley to develop new frameworks and algorithms for applying machine learning to small data sets. By focusing on energy systems research problems constrained by limited data, Solomon intends to utilize these frameworks to uncover new fundamental phenomena, discover novel materials, and design energy devices with superior performance.

Solomon hopes that his research will drive the advancement of sustainable energy harvesting, conversion, and storage technologies. These technologies will help in addressing climate change by reducing our reliance on fossil fuels.
