A deeper understanding of how cells organize could lead to efficient treatments for developmental disorders and effective strategies for wound healing.

As a 2025 Schmidt Science Fellow, Stephy seeks to understand how organelles – specialized structures within a cell – organize themselves and how they separate to form different types of tissues.

By focusing on the mechanisms behind these processes that are crucial for the growth and development of an organism, Stephy will create analytical and numerical models to reveal the physical principles driving these processes and compare the results with experimental data.

Stephy will pivot from Statistical Physics to Biophysics
