We are identifying and developing innovative initiatives designed to accelerate interdisciplinary science and eliminate barriers to progress.
Alongside our Fellowship Program, we are collaborating with partners to design and launch initiatives aimed at accelerating interdisciplinary science and dismantling existing barriers to progress. Through these initiatives, we work collaboratively with the wider science community to foster the adoption of innovative strategies, structures, and cultures that allow interdisciplinary science to thrive.
Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2024
Times Higher Education (THE) and Schmidt Science Fellows recognize the transformative power of Interdisciplinary Science and will be publishing the first Interdisciplinary Science Ranking in 2024 to improve scientific excellence and collaboration amongst universities.
The ranking will provide the sector with data to measure and benchmark achievement in scientific research that crosses disciplinary boundaries. It will recognize and reward universities leading interdisciplinary science to help promote good practice and incentivize interdisciplinarity.
We are looking forward to working with universities across the world to further develop this tool and ensure it can play a positive role in strengthening the way we do science.
Catalyst Grants
Our Catalyst Grants encourage collaboration within our Fellowship. This early-stage funding supports groups of Fellows to pursue projects emerging from their Placements or Fellowship interactions at a point where it might be challenging to attract funding from other sources.
Times Higher Education Campus+
Our Times Higher Education Campus+ series features insights from our Program Team, Academic Council, Fellows, and external voices, exploring the importance of interdisciplinary science and how we can better support it.
