She said: “I am absolutely gobsmacked, humbled, and hugely grateful to receive this recognition from His Royal Highness, King Charles.”

Professor Rickaby’s work focuses on complex interactions between the evolution of organisms, ocean chemistry, atmospheric composition, and Earth’s climate. It utilizes a combination of geochemical, microbiological, and genomic approaches to read the geological history of both climate and the coevolution of life and the chemical environment.

She added: “All of my research, and indeed my life, has flourished through the support of, and interactions with brilliant older and younger minds from across the world. I hope that the entire team can share in a warm swell of pride as we continue the push towards a sustainable future.”

As a Schmidt Science Fellows Academic Council Member, Professor Rickaby provides bespoke mentoring to individual Fellows. The Academic Council also acts as an advisory group to our Program leadership.

Schmidt Science Fellows would like to congratulate all those in science, innovation, and research who were recognized in the New Year Honours.
