The Schmidt Science Fellows, in partnership with The Rhodes Trust, has opened the application process for its 2019 postdoctoral fellowships.
Invitations to apply have now been emailed to all nominated candidates following an initial selection processes in their current institutions that resulted in their institutional endorsement.
Candidates for the Schmidt Science Fellows are nominated by a selected partners, representing the world’s leading science, technology, engineering, and mathematics institutions. Each institution puts forward its top candidates who are then invited to complete an individual application.
Candidates now have until November 30 2018 to submit their dossiers. Applications will then be reviewed by expert scientific panels before shortlisted candidates undertake formal interviews. The 2019-2020 Schmidt Science Fellows cohort will be announced in spring 2019.
Dr Megan Wheeler, Schmidt Science Fellows Executive Director, said: “Candidates invited to apply for the Schmidt Science Fellows program have already achieved extraordinary things. To be nominated by their own academic leaders as one of their institution’s top STEM PhD students is something they should all be proud of. We look forward to receiving their completed applications and to learning how they each envision crossing disciplinary boundaries to drive science forward and make a positive impact on the world.”
The Schmidt Science Fellows nominations and selection process relies on the support and insight of our partner institutions around the world. Dr Wheeler added: “I would like to thank everyone involved who has committed time and expertise to identify and select these outstanding candidates.”
