Schmidt Science Fellows and International Day of Women and Girls in Science 2021

In recognition of the UN International Day of Women and Girl’s in Science today, we are giving space to some of our Fellows to share their perspectives being a woman in science, the importance of leadership, and initiatives they have supported.

The Schmidt Science Fellows community benefits from the involvement, support, and leadership of many female scientists, from our 30 women Fellows to host PIs, Global Meeting speakers, Selectors and Reviewers, and countless inspirational supporters.

Our women Fellows include chemists, engineers, biologists, physicists, neuroscientists, computer scientists, and planetary scientists, pursuing Fellowship Placements, with Senior Fellows developing careers around the world as academic faculty or as founders of start-up companies. A number of our women scientists have been working at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19.

For #WomeninScience Day, three of our Fellows have written personal blogs which address issues of diversity in science, the inspirational female scientists they have met during their careers so far, and what they are doing to spread knowledge of female scientists. Read more:
