Leadership Development
Our Science Leadership Program is how Schmidt Science Fellows, working across the world, come together in fellowship to build the skills, experience, and networks required to become interdisciplinary science leaders.
Science Leadership Program
The Science Leadership Program (SLP) offers a tailored professional development curriculum that includes three residential convenings and virtual sessions. All Fellows participate in the SLP during the first year of their Fellowship.
Hosted in some of the world’s most dynamic and innovative centers of science, the in-person convenings allow Fellows to immerse themselves in diverse research cultures. These gatherings provide unique insights into various ways of organizing and leading scientific institutions and offer opportunities to learn from distinguished subject experts. Throughout the year, virtual SLP sessions facilitate ongoing engagement with each Fellow’s scientific pursuits and introduce foundational content in preparation for in-person meetings.
The SLP is designed to foster connections, promote reflective thinking, expose Fellows to new perspectives, and provide learning opportunities from leading figures in science and leadership. Through the program, our Fellows cultivate a global community of peers, mentors, and advocates for interdisciplinary science, enhancing the reach and impact of their work.
