New medicines with the potential to contribute to the fight against cancer and neurodegenerative diseases are discovered every day. However, translating promising molecules from lab to society remains a significant challenge, driving the urgent need to develop techniques to accelerate drug synthesis and production scale-up to meet societal demands.

As a 2025 Schmidt Science Fellow, Justin will develop an engineering toolkit to accelerate the discovery, optimization, and translation of chemical processes needed for environmental remediation and medicinal synthesis.

Justin will develop robotic reactors powered by artificial intelligence and informed by chemical physics to plan, optimize, and scale the synthesis of cancer drugs, accelerating the translation of the vast portfolio of molecules used to treat disease.

Justin will pivot from Chemical Engineering to Artificial Intelligence
